How the SCADA layer is structured.

The system is built in layers, each doing one job: field devices (sensors, meters, existing PLCs) feed a gateway layer that talks the protocols already on the floor (Modbus, OPC, IP); that data lands on a local, on-prem core that runs process logic, interlocks, and alarm rules without needing a live internet connection to keep working; a visibility layer on top — dashboards, logs, alerts — is what operators and management actually look at day to day.

Because the core sits on-site, a WAN or internet outage affects visibility and remote access, not the process control itself. Data logged for compliance or audit purposes stays on the local system as the system of record, with export available for whoever needs it — an auditor, a client, a regulator — without that data having lived anywhere else first.

Does this replace our existing PLC/SCADA setup, or sit alongside it?

Almost always alongside. The gateway layer is built to read from equipment already installed rather than force a replacement; the value is in bringing fragmented systems into one place, not in ripping out working control hardware.

Can this be installed without stopping the line?

Installation is phased per line, per cell, or per system specifically so a running plant doesn't have to stop for the whole project. Commissioning on a given line does typically require a scheduled, short window.

Who owns the data this system logs?

The plant does. Data stays on the on-prem core as the system of record; it isn't routed through or stored on a third-party cloud as a condition of the system working.

Does this cover safety-critical interlocks, or just monitoring?

Scope is set at the design stage per site — some deployments are monitoring and alarm-focused, others include process interlocks. This is a design conversation specific to the plant's existing safety systems and compliance requirements.
